The rise in mobile phone usage has seen a meteoric rise in the past decade. Mobile is not just a device for communication but has advanced so much that it can do a lot of things that you might have needed a laptop or a computer to do before. People nowadays generally use their mobile phones for a number of transactions daily as well. This has led to an increase in mobile security threats as well.

  • Leakage of data – this is one of the most prominent types of risks that a mobile user might have to face. A lot of free apps that even perform as expected, store the data you provide on remote servers which can be mined by hackers or advertising firms
  • Spyware – another common type of threat is spyware, this threat can act as a spy in your phone and will transfer your usage and data that you enter in your device to a remote server where the person who infected your device with spyware can access the information to track you.
  • Phishing – the chances of a mobile device getting trapped in phishing are very high as they are always powered on. As compared to desktop users who can access their mails once or twice a day, mobile user who receives real-time notification is an easy victim as the small display and text can cause people to get convinced about the authenticity of a phishing link.

  3. Avoid giving your phone to others unless necessary.
